CBS News reports Local TV stations are expected to make more than $1.1 billion for online advertising this year, up 45 percent over 2007, according to a report by Borrell Associates offers a similarly bright outlook for online TV and the local web spending in general. The report, conducted on behalf of Television Bureau of Advertising, a local station trade group, gathered data from 534 TV stations from Borrell’s database of 3,096 local web properties…

The research shows that viewers are engaging with the content, and in many cases using the internet while watching TV. It would be interesting to see how the data translates into the United States, but we can assume its not far off.

Google lobbies TV ‘White Space’ for WiFi

Who knew… apparently the ‘white space’ signal on television sets can transmit Wi-Fi internet. Google is attempting to press the Federal Communications Commision to open up this ‘white space’ for unlicensed use. This is targeting TV sets not hooked up to cable boxes or satellite dishes.
